SANTOS PARTY HOUSE

MONDAY 09.29 UPSTAIRS
DECLASSIFIED w/ Bellmer Dolls & Preacher and the Knife
11pm, $10 ($5 with RSVP: mailinglist@newyorknighttrain.com)
Tonight's party is graced by the howl of two of the NYC music scene's darker pleasures. Bellmer Dolls, who have spent the last couple of years in the studio with no wave/punk/underground legend Jim Sclavunos (Teenage Jesus, Sonic Youth, Cramps, Grinderman, etc.) now make their triumphant return to the New York stage armed with a black skull full of new jams in preparation for their opening slot with their friends Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds. Preacher and the Knife (who seem to be everyone's favorite new band in the last few months) perform dark razor-sharp post-punk driven by wild gigantic rhythms and are already developing a reputation for throwing down one of the most intense shows around.
New York Night Train's Mr. Jonathan Toubin gets you down from way up in the
DJ gods with special surprise guests. And, as always, Anna Copacabana dances
and Spencer Bewley covers the walls with mindblowing live projections from
his dualing 16mm projectors.

TUESDAY 09.30 DOWNSTAIRS
"The Boned Age" DVD premiere party
10pm, $5
Grenade Gloves, one of the fastest-growing names in action sports, will unveil its new snowboarding film, "The Boned Age," at Santos Party House.
"The Boned Age includes plenty of wipeouts, skits, and the freshest tricks in all aspects of the sport from Magoon creating new rail combinations to EJT–Experimental Jump Technologies," says two-time Olympic silver medalist and Grenade Gloves president Danny Kass. Joining Kass in the all-star cast are Scotty Lago, Benji Ritchie, Gabe Taylor, Kyle Clancy, Lucas Magoon, Travis Rice, The Dingo and Dave England of MTV's Jackass. Expect a wild night of killer tunes, killer video (screening starts promptly at 11pm) and loads of special guests in the house!

WEDNESDAY 10.01 UPSTAIRS
Lower Manhattan Dancehall Society
10pm, $5
Rihanna's tour DJ, Max Glazer, is firing up the decks at Santos once again! The HOTTEST (and most fashionable) reggae/dancehall party in New York City is BACK! The Lower Manhattan Dancehall Society crew is dedicated to bringing riddims back to the disco, and apparently you all were ready for it as well-- lines were around the block for its debut! DJ Max Glazer and his consortium of DJs representing a number of the best crews in town (including Queen Majesty, Weed Kalogne, Scratch Famous, DJ Gravy and Selector JD) bring it to you live and direct...

WEDNESDAY 10.01 DOWNSTAIRS
First Person Magazine Launch Party!
10pm $5 door
First Person, the new San Francisco-based art and culture magazine, is getting off the ground in style-- we're throwing a huge bash for them here at Santos’ Party House! Helping fete our West Coast friends on the decks will be DJ Duane Harriott (Other Music), DJ Scott Mou (Other Music) and DJ Telfar. Also slated on the bill (just to throw it way over the top) will be a live performance from the always fun Bad Brilliance!

THURSDAY 10.02 UPSTAIRS all night!
Buraka Som Sistema w/ The Trouble & Bass DJs (Drop the Lime, Star Eyes, Math Head + The Captain)
9pm, $12adv / $14 door
Straight outta Lisbon, we're hosting a special live MC & late-night DJ set with Buraka Som Sistema, who are making big waves these days!
Fresh off of an opening slot on M.I.A.'s tour, BSS are invading our shores and lighting it up this Thursday night! Championed by Diplo, Switch, M.I.A., Santogold and the billions of music bloggers who love them, this Portuguese trio brings some serious bass and bounce to the dance-floor... check out their huge UK single "Yah!" for a taste of the kuduro/dance/beats & bass they bring. Brooklyn's own Trouble & Bass crew will be supporting--you know it's a serious party when Drop the Lime, Star Eyes, Math Head and The Captain get on the decks!

THURSDAY 10.02 DOWNSTAIRS
Ceremony w/ DJs Derek Plasaiko, Mike Servito, Memory Boy, Lee Douglas and Markus Miller
10pm, $8/$5 adv RSVP: info@selwaymusic.com
You gotta love a night of music based on a blissful celebration of love (and one of the greatest New Order songs ever written!). This Thursday, some of NYC's most revered DJs come together to help Memory Boy (aka John Selway) celebrate his recent wedding! You'll hear a mix of tech-house, minimal, disco, and more electronic genres that will make your heart sing!

FRIDAY 10.03 LATE NIGHT
DJs Rich Medina (Jump & Funk, APT) and Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest)
11pm, $10
* Named one of NEW YORK MAGAZINE'S BEST DANCE NIGHTS in New York City!!
Beats, rhymes, and life are the main themes of this new popular night, which features two of the most beloved figures in the underground working today: DJ Rich Medina (Jump & Funk, APT) and Tribe Called Quest main man Q-Tip. This night has become one of NYC's Friday night do-not-miss destinations due to the fact that the music is hot (a mix of classic funk, hip-hop joints, and an eclectic mix of soul, afrobeat, and funky rock tracks), the crowd will dance all night, and Santos is bumping an insane soundsystem. Hosted by downtown It Girl Va$htie (1992 party), this party rocks! And here's a major hint: come early, as this party gets packed right from the get!

SATURDAY 10.04
SANTOS IS CLOSED THIS SATURDAY FOR A PRIVATE EVENT

SUNDAY 10.05 DOWNSTAIRS
Nicky Siano EXCLUSIVE residency
**PLEASE NOTE NEW TIME CHANGE!!! 7pm - 1am, $5
By popular demand, Nicky is now starting his epic dance party earlier, so everyone can get in on the dancefloor fun! Doors are at 7pm!
Nicky Siano launched the careers of Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, and D.C. LaRue. He is the original Studio 54 DJ, and the first DJ to produce a record. And he opened his first club when most other kids his age were barely passing their driving tests.
Widely acknowledged as the instrumental figure in the creation of the modern cult of the dj, Nicky Siano is the "DJs DJ." For this exclusive residency, Nicky spins his trademarked mix of deeeeep disco rarities, soul, and funky cuts for his dancefloor devotees. We can't stress enough how insane and life-changing this party is, and how doubters become believers as soon as they experience a small snippet of what went down at The Gallery and Studio 54!

WEEKLY RESIDENCIES
Sunday-- Nicky Siano
Monday-- Declassified

Comic Cabaret on Rollerskates : Amy G

Direct from a critically acclaimed European tour, the world's best (and probably only) comic cabaret on roller skates. Best known and loved by NY audiences as the roller-skating darling from Absinthe 2006 cast, the irrepressible Amy G has returned from her international adventures with a new show "Round She Goes."

Amy G, "a comic powerhouse" (Sydney Morning Herald) presents "a studied combination of elegance and slapstick" (Irish Times) taking on circles, perfectionism, beauty, love and other bad ideas. Featuring a mostly live and original score on ukulele (Amy G) and double bass (Jon Keay), "a spectacular voice," and some explicit content with mild to seething cultural significance.
